From December 6th to 8th, The First Symposium on the Frontiers of Eye Movement Corpus Research, co-organized by the Eye Movement Psychology Research Professional Committee of the Chinese Psychological Society, was held at our university.Professor Bai Xuejun,Chair of the Eye-movement Psychology Research Committee of Chinese Psychological Society, and Vice President of Tianjin Normal University, and Professor Xia Guo’en,amember of the Standing Committee of the CPC GXU committee andVice President of Guangxi University, both delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Sun Rui,amember of the Standing Committee of the CPC GXU committee,headof GXUPublicity Department, and Dean of theSchool ofChinese Language and Liteature.

Professor Xia Guo’en,together with Professor Victor Kupermanfrom McMaster University in Canada,Professor Li Xingshanfrom the Institute of Psychology,Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Lu Shiyi of the School of Chinese Laguage and Literature at Guangxi University,jointlyinauguratedthe Language and Cognition Laboratory of Guangxi University.

The discussions atthis symposiumfocusedon the development and construction of eyemovementcorpus, the processing and analysis of eyemovementdata,andthe expanded applications of eyemovementcorpusacrossvarious fields.The event highlighted the significant potentialand practical application value of eyemovementtechnology in languageandcognition research,paving the way fornew avenuesofinterdisciplinary integration and innovation.

Attendees included experts and scholars from Tianjin Normal University, McMaster University of Canada, the University of Southampton, University of Macau, Liaoning Normal University,the Education University of Hong Kong, Jinan University, Guangxi University, the Institute of Psychology of Chinese Academy of Sciences,and variousother universities and research institutions.
