On July 31, the final round of the 2024 China International College Students Innovation Competitionconcluded atGuangxi University of Science and Technology.GuangxiUniversity(GXU)excelled, winning 27 gold medals, including 12 in the Higher Education Main Track, 6 in the “Youth Red Dream Building Journey” Track, and 9 in the Industries ChallengeTrack.GXU’sprojects also clinched first place in the Undergraduate Creative Group of the Higher Education Main Track, the Creative Group of the “Youth Red Dream Building Journey” Track, and the IndustrialChallengeTrack Group during the Gold Medal Ranking Competition, which plays a crucial role in recommending projects for the national competition.Guangxiuniversity wasalsorecognized with the “Outstanding Organization Award for the Higher Education Main Track” and the “Outstanding Organization Award for the Youth Red Dream Building Journey Track.”
In the championship round,theproject,from the “Youth Red Dream Building Journey” Track Creative Group, titledCane Core Power—An Innovative and Cost-Effective Model for Rapid Propagation of Virus-Free Cane Seedlings to Boost Rural Revitalization, earned the runner-up spot. The project titledTarget Leader—A Pioneer in Ultra-Pure Scandium Target Material Production,from the Undergraduate Creative Group of the Higher Education Main Track, secured third place. Thesetwoprojects were developed by the College of Agriculture and the College of Resources, Environment, and Materials, respectively.
Regional competitionshowimpressive participationin this year, with 115 universities and over 480,000 students submitting 279,000 projects. Out of these, 2,465 projects advanced to the online evaluation stage, and 537 projects from 56 universities made it to the finals.GXUset a new record with 5,770 entries and 21,940 participants. The competition aims to cultivate students’ moral and ethical values, promote the inheritance of red culture, integrate the “Five Educations,” and foster innovation and entrepreneurship education. It inspires young students to innovate and create, while establishing an international platform for shared growth and exchange, marking the start of a new phase in innovation and entrepreneurship education reform.
